Dwarves

Background

Dwarves were first officially discovered by Humankind when the royal gold mine of king Teravious IV of the now-defunct Sarxyn Kingdom struck a rich vein of dwarf. They were the first to learn that dwarves are not born, but discovered in the embrace of the earth. The kingdom named the first dwarf Steinsvald, and he began a holy quest to discover all of his kinsmen beneath the surface that persists in the hearts and minds of all dwarves to this day.

Racial Abilities

Because Dwarves are born from the earth, they differ based on the type of rock from which they were excavated. There are 4 types:

Igneous Dwarves have ruddy skin and hair that ranges from fiery red to coal black and every hue in between.

  • Dwarven Toughness: All Dwarves start with a d6 in vigor instead of a d4.
  • Low Light Vision: Dwarven eyes are accustomed to the dark. They ignore penalties for dim and dark lighting.
  • Mind of Metal and Wheels: Igneous Dwarves are forgemasters by nature. They start with a d6 in repair, and fix things in half the time others would.
  • Slow: Dwarves have a pace of 5.
  • Fiery Temper: Igneous Dwarves are difficult to get along with. They subtract 2 from their Charisma.

Metamorphic Dwarves have soot-black skin and snow-white to ash grey hair.

  • Dwarven Toughness: All Dwarves start with a d6 in vigor instead of a d4.
  • Low Light Vision: Dwarven eyes are accustomed to the dark. They ignore penalties for dim and dark lighting.
  • Liquid Courage: Metamorphic Dwarves are renowned for their love of brew. After downing a stiff drink they gain a vigor die type and can ignore one level of wound modifiers for one hour. (This stacks with the liquid courage edge).
  • Slow: Dwarves have a pace of 5.
  • Alcoholic: It seems the drink is both a blessing and a curse. Metamorphic dwarves must make a fatigue check every 24 hours without alcohol.

Sedimentary Dwarves have skin the color of tan clay and hair to match.

  • Dwarven Toughness: All Dwarves start with a d6 in vigor instead of a d4.
  • Low Light Vision: Dwarven eyes are accustomed to the dark. They ignore penalties for dim and dark lighting.
  • Enduring Miners: Proficient in hauling loads of ore and stone, Sedimentary dwarves can carry 50% more significant items than normal, and add +2 to their Soak rolls.
  • Slow: Dwarves have a pace of 5.
  • Greed: Sedimentary Dwarves will always try to get more out of a bargain or take a risk to increase their reward.

Asteroidwarves have pale blue skin and hair ranging from bright jade to deep emerald.

  • Dwarven Toughness: All Dwarves start with a d6 in vigor instead of a d4.
  • Low Light Vision: Dwarven eyes are accustomed to the dark. They ignore penalties for dim and dark lighting.
  • Aether-Infused: Asteroidwarves are resistant to the effects of magic, and aetheradiation. They have 2 points of armor against damage-causing arcane powers, and add +2 to resist opposed powers or aetheradiation.
  • Slow: Dwarves have a pace of 5.
  • Arrogant: Born among the stars, Asteroidwarves look down on the “mud races” other than them.
